Latest Book - Be Your Own Boss Vol 1

My third book titled "Be Your Own Boss" Volume 1 comes out of the printers this week. The book provides 18 compelling reasons why students, school leavers, unemployed people and even those who have jobs, need to consider becoming self-employed.

I had 2,000 copies of volume 1 printed. So far, confirmed orders total 1,720 copies, so it will have to be reprinted immediately.

I am really happy with the way my books are being received by the reading public. "Success After Graduation" and "Young Money" are completely sold out and need to be reprinted as well. Such a positive response motivates me to write more.

Talk On Radio

My weekly radio talks on the local radio station (Radio Eastern Highlands - KBK FM) are continuing every Wednesday morning from 07:30 to 08:00 am.

This week's message was on the 4 types of income people receive, namely "earned" income, "passive" income, "portfolio" income and "residual" income. My encouragement to listeners, most of whom are familiar with "earned" income, was for them to think about how they can receive the other types of income. I pointed out that "earned" income is received from people working for money, but "passive" and "portfolio" income are received from peoples' money working for them. Listeners were encouraged to convert "earned" income to "passive" and "portfolio" income.

According to the Station Manageress, this was the best talk yet. She also informed me that the station has been receiving very positive comments from the listening public. Some people have requested copies of the interviews and talks on CD, which is another way to disseminate the information. I am seriously considering recording talks and duplicating them as the information I am providing is relevant and needed at this point in time when the prices of goods are skyrocketing and most working people are living in debt.

Weekend Seminar In Mt Hagen

I have just returned from a weekend program at the Philedelphia Praise Centre in Mount Hagen where I conducted a seminar on "Making Money Work For You" and preaching on Faith at the sunday service. The program commenced on Friday night, at which I shared 5 guiding principles concerning money, wealth and God from the Bible. Then on Saturday I shared in the morning, afternoon and night on 4 steps to making money become your servant. On Sunday night I gave a special teaching on the Bible from Malachi 3:7-10, where I emphasised the importance of investing part of the 90% of income which we keep for ourselves after giving 10% as our tithes.

The response from the congregation was very positive. I am confident that many will become better managers (stewards)and investors of their money.

7 Steps To Financial Freedom Seminar in Pt Moresby

I conducted the "7 Steps To Financial Freedom" seminar again in Port Moresby from 10-12 July for Hastings & Deering. Forty-six employees from the company's Parts & Services Division and some of their spouses attended the seminar. The response was very positive.

The next one is scheduled for 15-16 August in Moresby and 19-21 August in Tabubil, followed by Kokopo and Lihir later in the year. This will be my first time to travel to the mining townships of Tabubil and Lihir Island so I am looking forward to it.

"How To Make Money Work For You Rather Than You Working For Money" Seminar at the University of Goroka

I conducted a seminar titled "How To Make Money Work For You Rather Than You Working For Money" at the University of Goroka last night. This seminar was conducted in support of the Western Highands Students Fellowship, who are raising funds to conduct awareness campaigns on social issues affecting the Western Highlands Province during the coming Christmas break. The students charged a gate fee of K10/person and raised K270 which went towards the fund raising account.

The main focus of this seminar is the Personal Financial Statement, and the Asset Column in particular, which is the place where peoples' assets (defined as "Anything that puts money into your pocket")start making money.

A similar seminar will be conducted at the University of PNG and other institutions in future. My aim is to get the student community to understand that money can work for them if they know how to harness it and make it their servant. As I state in the seminar, "Money can be your master or your slave." Another related statement is "Money is a terrible master but a faithful servant." Students have not developed the many bad money habits which adults have, so if they can learn how to budget, save and invest their money before they start working for money, they will have a much better chance of making money work for them later, and thereby become financially independent and free while they are still young. That is why my strategy is to start with the universities and other learning instittions first, before taking the seminar to the public.

Another thing that is at the back of this seminar is the conviction that Papua New Guineans can become financially prosperous and wealthy. The country is so blessed it has become the envy of many other nations, yet we the citizens live in poverty. The world calls the country "paradise" but we think it is "hell".

I am convinced that if people can learn how to save and invest their money instead of spending it all on consumption and waiting for free "hand-outs", they can succeed financially instead of struggling and living in habitual debt. I believe that this seminar will liberate alot of people from the many destructive money habits they have developed over the years which keep them in bondage.

Be watching this blog or more on this seminar.
